Exciting Saturday

Scott came home again this weekend and since it was the weekend before our 3rd anniversary, we decided to make it an eventful weekend.

Saturday morning we got up, got ready, and headed out to the zoo. Maybe it was the heat, or maybe it was the fact that the zoo is free and that aspect attracts a certain crowd but it seemed like everyone there was just yelling at each other- parents at kids, kids at parents, couples at each other... it really makes you appreciate the fact that you can go somewhere with your husband and child and not want to belittle either of them in public.

Hudson is still a little too young to fully enjoy the zoo but the two highlights for him were:
1. Watching the orangutan cross over the walkway on the cables
2. Eating chicken nuggets for lunch

Despite the fact that he was not too interested in seeing all of the animals, he was still pooped and fell asleep in his stroller, which he hasn't done since he was an itty-bitty baby.

After we got home, we put Hudson down for a real nap and we got ready for our fancy dinner at Ruth's Chris in Crystal City. Since we don't really know anyone why can babysit and I probably wouldn't trust anyone other than Fabiola (and it was too short notice to get her to babysit), we were taking Hudson with us to the restaurant.

Hudson was a little terrorist the entire time. He was launching french fries EVERYWHERE. Not just on the floor but also at us and other tables. Luckily the people around us didn't show that they were getting pissed because we probably would have just thrown in the towel and left mid-dinner.

The food was great. Scott got the filet mignon and shrimp with blue cheese crust and I got the filet mignon and shrimp with au poivre sauce (very french- hence the name- and reminded me of being back in Geneva). Our sides were green beans with roasted garlic and mashed potatoes. To finish everything off, Scott got Chocolate Sin cake which was a really really rich chocolate and espresso cake. I got creme brulee with fresh fruit. Once the desert came out, Hudson decided to sit very very quietly and wait for us to share with him, meanwhile bus boys were cleaning up the mess he had made within a 15 foot radius of our table.

Once we left the 11th floor restaurant, we were walking through the lobby and let Hudson run loose since he obviously had some pent up energy that needed to be released. He got a few feet ahead of us and ran straight into a glass door, knocking himself flat on the floor. We laughed... hard... and so the did other couple in the lobby. And then we continued to laugh all the way to the car because in a funny way, Karma had come after Hudson because of how naughty he was during dinner. Don't worry, he wasn't hurt. We wouldn't have laughed (as hard as we did) if he was.

So that was out anniversary celebration (with Hudson). Maybe in a couple weeks we will ask Fabiola to babysit so we can have a round 2.
